  • Hi! New & Looking for Feedback/Advice!
by hannahjane at 04:47 on 23 December 2006
Hi there everyone, I'm new here, but I have been lurking, browsing and being denied access to articles for a while (!).

Basically, I've uploaded a bit of writing which is as rough as a badger's bum still, but which I have nonetheless wrestled with for nearly a year now. The structure etc is a bit dodgy, but I am someone who writes a sentence, thinks it is ok, and then deletes it an hour later convinced that it is possibly the worst thing ever written. (Is this just me?)

I've basically driven myself mad this way for around twelve months because I've been too cowardly to post on here for advice and criticism. But I've finally come around realising how intelligent/helpful everyone on here seems to be!

I'd love it if you could take a few minutes to just have a look at what I've posted, I would be so grateful. I can't stress enough how important this is to me. I know the extract is probably bad, and it's very rough, (for a start a lot of punctuation I would probably change later on, and whole chunks of it should maybe be cut and placed elsewhere), but just to get some kind of feedback would be invaluable.

    It's here.

Thank you ever so much, and I hope you are all having a Happy Christmas time.

    Cheers xxx

Hi Hannahjane, and welcome to WW.

No, you're not the only one who keeps changing the way they see their own work. I think we all do it, and it never goes away. You just have to get used to it!

I’ll try and have a look at your work this afternoon. I ought to warn you that this is a very quiet time on the site, so don’t worry if you don’t get much feedback at this stage – it’s not you, honest!

I see you’ve left feedback on a couple of things already. This is good. The more you get involved, the more you’ll get out of the site. Think about joining a group – it’s not essential but you tend to get extra support and a stronger sense of community… but take your time choosing. The dynamics of some groups might be more suitable for you than others.

    Best wishes

    Dee

Hi, Hannahjane, and welcome to WW. You're obviously finding your way around very well, so I'll just second everything Dee's said for now, and wish you Happy Christmas!

Hi Dee and Emma, thanks for your replies. Yes, finding my way around ok so far (I think!). I'm not too clued up on the groups but I'll try and get to know a bit more about them and join one of it helps. Thanks for the advice!

Also thanks in advance if either of you do get a chance to look/comment the extract, it is a bit shoddy but I think the gist is there at least!

    Thanks again, take care. xx
