How about we have a time as well as a date beside each thread so we know exactly when the last activity was? That means we're not having to click on threads to see if they've been added to unnecessarily (that's for those of us who have e-mail notification switched off because we don't want our inboxes flooded!).

Newbie question, I know, but how do I set e-mail prefs?

Gaius, for posts on the forum you tick a little box just above the 'post' button when you're replying. If you change your mind, you can later click on 'edit' on your post, and tick or un-tick the box there. Same sort of thing if you post work - there'll be a box like that somewhere on the page.

I do find when a thread's got long enough, it's apt to forget a notification tick you put pages back, and you have to do another on your next post.

I think notification of private WW mail is automatic - anyone out there know otherwise?

    Thanks Emma,
It all seems a bit cumbersome, most other forums (admittedly techy ones) that I go to, there is a profile setting either to receive or not to receive notifications from postings. That way, you can turn it on and off at will and don't have to remember every post you ever make!
WW mail seems to be automatic, works for me anyway.
    Cheers,

I know the kind of thing you mean, but, I don't want notifications for everywhere I post, only for the 'help wanted' ones, or ones where I'm really following the thread. I think there are others who feel the same. If I had a general one, my inbox would be flooded. But it's what you're used to, I guess.
