Is Lorella a female name, or is it a name for a man who wants to be a girl? (only joking on the last part, but oh, what an image).

Just tried googling it, Steve. My but I wasn't expecting that on a Saturday afternoon!!!

Hi Steve,
I would think that Lorella is a female name - sounds Italian. I was going through my list of agents last night and came across Lorella Belli Literary Agency - I tried their website but it's under construction so it doesn't give much away.
I'm not sure if your question was in jest and I've taken it too seriously...forgive my lack of sense of humour if that is the case, I'm usually 'with it' when it comes to these things

I was being serious apart from the 'man-thing', wanting to be a girl, but eh, ever been to Hamburg?
Steev
-
Hamburg? No I haven't...is that an invitation?
Interesting...why would Hamburg be associated with men wanting to be girls???
-
The Reeperbahn is an eye opener put it that way.
-
It is a female name and probably Italian.
Hamburg? Who needs it? I googled Lorella and suddenly I had 'Hamburg' all over my screen! I was into Richard's Porn Free before you could say 'What the f***'s that!'

oh oh oh, now you're a much wiser person I guess? ;o)
-
I just googled Lorella too...that doesn't sound very pleasant but you know what I mean...
I got Lorella Angelini who apparently is a scientiest and researcher. There's this Lorella Cuccarina or summat...I see what you mean Dee...but it's Italian...no sign of Hamburg in my google! Okay...that's enough of that.
Hey Dee...speaking of Porn Free...where is Richard these days? And what's happened to TinyClanger???

Nahed, I'll WWmail you.
Dee.

For what it's worth, I know Lorella Belli. She set up her own agency not so long ago and is a very sincere, as well as nice, person. I think her personal taste is more towards literary fiction, but she certainly favours good writers in most genres (yes, I know - any agent should do).
-
Thanks for that information Terry. She's one of the agents I'll be submitting to. Since her website isn't up and running yet, having an idea about what kind of an agency she runs and what kind of person she is from someone who knows her is a great help. The fact that they're 'particularly interested in first-time writers' made me circle her agency's name in bright red ink. If you have any more information, it would be greatly appreciated.
-
I can vouch for Lorella Belli too - she used to (up till last year) work at Lawrence Pollinger Agency (now called Pollinger only, I think??), and her info may possibly(!) still be on their website. She's happy to see stuff from new writers, especially as she's just set up her own agency, as said earlier in this strand.
A nice person. She didn't like my offering of the time, but then again not many people did, so I can't blame her for that!

Thanks Anne. I've checked the Pollinger Ltd website and her information isn't there, as expected really. I'm sure she'd be pleased to hear people's good opinions of her

For what it's woth Lorella doesn't appear in my Oxford Concise Dictionary of First Names - but Lorelle does.
Lorelle is defined as an elaboration of Lora, which itself is a German form of Laura. Too much information, I think!!
