  • An idle thought about interviews
by EmmaD at 17:30 on 30 December 2005
Reading the two most recent interviews in one go, it occurred to me that since they follow pretty much the same format, answering the same questions, it would be absolutely fascinating to assemble, say the 'what advice do you have for new writers' answers, or the ones about best or worst things about being a writer. That way we'd have an anthology of wonderfully varied thoughts on a particular subject. The Bridport and Fish sites assemble parts of past judges comments, and they are always interesting, and sometimes actually helpful.

I don't know at all if it's electronically possible, but it would be interesting.

Damn, Emma... what a good idea! Why don't you WWmail DB to make sure he sees it.

I hadn't thought of it, it being a pretty idle thought, but now I just have.

Hi Emma, that was partly the idea behind the format being the same- that you could look across the board at all answers for 'Who are your influences?' or whatever- I'll see what David says as I know we did think about that a wee while back. Happy New Year to all on WW by the way!

Yes, David said you'd structured things behind the scenes so it would be possible, though whether it could be arranged so that anyone could search dynamically for all the answers to the question they fancied, or whether it would be a case of sorting them out and parking them in a new part of the archive, (and then slotting in new answers as they arrived?) I don't know.

It would be interesting, though, either way.
