Just an idea, but what about having a Forum genre for people who are just plunging into the submissions sharkpool, somewhere they can update on progress, cry, commiserate, whoop with joy or whatever. It's such a painful part of the process and we (mostly) all go through it, and it's hard alone.

I appreciate from your point of view that you'd want to set rules, from a legal point of view, about what could be said about a particular named agent/publisher ie nothing negative, but it would be a good place to swap information too about agents/publishers currently receptive to new authors/genres, who had a closed client list or had stipulated particular submission requirements etc

Would others be interested? What would you think to it?

I think this is a good idea, Andrea - perhaps it can have the same privacy factor as the current Lounge forum does?
