David, Ben (bjlangley) had a really good one called
Past, Presents and Future, but I think he was going to enter it for a comp.
<Added>And there's always
The Night Before Christmas, although that's not strictly a ghost story, but it has a certain magic.

Hi David,
I've sort of got one called Aunt Lucille's Quiet Christmas, it's more about loneliness really, but there is a creepy bit toward the end. Anyway if you get stuck you could have a look. It's archived in my Writewords profile.

Julie, I forgot about Aunt Lucille! It's a goodie David.

Thanks Nell, hey how about becoming my agent?

Julie, TAAFLA (The And All For Love Agency) is already in the planning stages after a similar invitation by Richard (West). The trouble is, as I felt compelled to point out to him, my one talent is creativity, and my greatest failing is selling the results...
-
Yeah, I'm the same, and sometimes I can't even rely on the creativity part. Maybe we should all pool our talents and start the Writewords co -op, like actors used to do in the 80's, or maybe still do?
-
Firstly thank you all for your kind offers and help I am still trawling around and have a few days yet to decide
as for the WRITE WORDS AGENCY AND PUBLISHING COMPANY I did suggets something similar to David Bruce a while ago.
take care

Oh yes, Jubbly, actors still do the co-op thing- as a smart alternative to agents having all the control. But actors tend to be a bit more unionized in general, don't they, than writers?
-
Anna, that's true, reminds me many years ago I temped for a big casting director - the phones were always ringing and if we were too busy to answer (This was long before call waiting) they'd ring off, but if they didn't my boss would say. "Bet that's a bloody co -op, no one else would be that desperate." Sad, isn't it? I was always extremely polite whenever they called though.

olebut,
How about The Signal Man or The Sexton and The Goblins, by Dickens, or almost anything by M.R.James or Algernon Blackwood? Or do you mean stories with a Christmas setting?
Yours in stupidity,

thanks my original idea was to have stories with a christmas setting but if not then stories which take place when the snow is on the ground an dthe wind is howling through the locks....................

David,
It's not a ghost story, but, O.Henry's The Gift of The Magi is an absolute heart-stopper........
Best,
