Just a thought but I was wondering how WriteWords goes about organising interviews.

Do you actively seek out people to interview, do you approach writers (non WW members) and other agencies and try and get them to write a little piece for the site?

I read a lot of interviews from our own members but could we expand upon this by maybe approaching key figures in publishing, writing and the literary agency world with a view to interviewing them?

Not only might this course of action actually create a number of interviews but it would also help to raise the profile of the site in some of the right circles and could even boost membership if we let agencies and publishers what we are all about.

Like I said, just a thought but I'd be interested to see what others think and what David and Anna think about this.

Hi Geoff, well- yes, we certainly do 'actively seek people to interview'- I think if you take a look at the full list of interviews you'll see the huge range of writers, poets, publishers, agents, magazines, etc etc- and that does, obviously, include 'key figures in publishing, writing and the lit. agency world' and more. Often smaller companies/organisations etc are of more use to WW members, as the successes page often shows; people get opportunities they wouldn't have known about otherwise, and equally, magazines/ezines/etc find out about the fantastic writers we have here at WW and often approach them. Of course, larger agencies/publishers are more than reluctant to give interviews to a site with so many members, as they are understandaly- and rightly!- worried about how this will increase their volume of submissions. They often give us accurate and up-to-date info for their Directory entry, but baulk at anything more high profile, with some exceptions.
