Publication points - by the time you accumulate 2,000 you've won the chance to have a work of your choice published by any one you choose!............or, they simply indicate how active people have been on the site. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

i heard a rumour that when one reaches 10,000 points a Dictionary is presented; 20,000 points earns another Dictionary and so on. The first is Swahili, followed by Serbo-Croat and then Finnish.
There again, I may me wrong and this is just words, words and words. Len

Wonderful. I'm already in the planning stages of a new novel based on a Serbo-Croat spy who is posted to Finland. It will be a romance, of course, so who needs words, but those dictionaries will come in very handy.

But seriously, the point of the points... It's about give and take, really; making comments on people's work, contributing to the forum, and therefore to the community we're growing here. It's all about exchanging views and being supportive, really, isn't it? Oh- and fun as well.

No Dee, I was thinking of writers' tools, a friend of mine who paints is thinking of starting to write and I'd just been telling her that all she needed was a packet of pencils and some small notebooks, and promised them her for Christmas. So I was just carrying on a train of thought, as you do.

Heh, I think if there were anything to be gained from the accumulation of points, we would see an inundation of short work, and one line feedback items on everybody's work.

Plus the forums would be spammed to hell and back.

Fortunately, I believe they're just an indicator of how active you are/have been on the site.

Oh, I thought the points were for how good you were. Consequently, I thought I was pretty crap...
