Sheila - are you talking about a comment on work or on the forums?
-
On work. I made a comment on a story in Commercial Short Stories yesterday and half of it disappeared. I didn't want to write it all again, which was a shame. It's also happened when I've tried to author-edit stories I've posted.

did is disappear only after you posted it or while you were typing?
-
While I was typing.
-
I don't, I'm afraid but have just opened the site in Firefox and it was fine. Keep meaning to use that as default but can't seem to be bothered to make the change! But maybe this will give me the incentive...

Thought I'd add this comment here rather than a PM:
In the groups, when adding a comment, a box comes up to say that a title hasn't been left. If I click submit a second time it is fine, but the warning message isn't relevant to commenting in the groups.
-
Just tried to post a poem and when I clicked on 'continue' red warning letters came up telling me I couldn't post unless I make a 100+ word comment on anothers work. Now what happens if there's no work to comment on?
-
Oh, and why 100 + words? This is becoming very dictatorial.
-
I just tried to reply on a thread in the Children's Forum, and got this message each time:
Active Server Pages error 'ASP 0126'
Include file not found
/groups/new_message.asp, line 2
The include file 'inc/link_urls.asp' was not found.
-
andy -sorry please try again now.
tusker - this is a new feature which we'll be making a bit more of soon, it will help make sure that work gets commented on, which is what most members would like I think. We'll be updating the 'Words' page to help with which work to comment on.
The 100 words for now is set so that you write something meaningful more than 'this was great I liked it'. It's part of what we hope can be the give and take of the site.
But we'll be developing it more in the coming weeks so watch this space...
-
While I think the 100+ comment is a great idea, perhaps it needs to have some flexibility according to the group. For instance, some writers are mainly active in poetry or flash fiction groups, and some pieces of poetry or flash might not be 100 words themselves and so to ask for a 100+ critique on them would seem unreasonable.
Also, does the 100+ rule only apply if you haven't given a 100+ comment since you last posted a story?

spot the missing element in this quote from the All Activity feed on the Home Page:
david bruce posted a new thread entitled in the Writewords Forum.
-
calliaphone - ha! That was actually accurate as I was trying to sort out the bug with posting no subjects under the new editor!
-
No fair! Do I still get a chocolate for spotting it? (Awards self a chocolate and eats it before anyone can protest)

I wasn't sure where to post this but it seems like a glitch so maybe here is as good as anywhere. It may be a query for Gaius rather than Admin, but here goes:
I'm unable to open the top "last activity topic" in the "42" group. It has no title and nothing to "click" on, but says it has 14 replies, so someone must be able to see it. On the other hand, it is the "42" group so maybe it's just there as a test to examine my existential nihilistic credentials!
