    Bumping this up again.

See the previous message for a link to a private message board for discussing the book...only a few people have been on there so far...we can go back to discussing it here if that's better? I just thought it would be easier.

I guess we're all very busy and maybe this book is going to be delayed, but I thought it would be worth putting it back into everyone's minds...

    Derek.

Good thinking Derek, get it back in people's minds.

I guess some of the questions we need to be asking ourselves include:

Do we have 6 stories each ready to submit, and are we happy with the quality of them?

Do we have any photographs you would like to be on the cover? (See example)

Are we happy with using Antony Rowe?

Personally I'm fairly happy with the standard of my stories at the moment, I've not uploaded any photographs for the cover as I've not yet found anything I'd really want on there, and I'm happy with AR.

I'm happy with the printer. I need photos though. Keep 'em coming. Lots please onto Derek's photo site.

I’ve been wondering about this but too busy to do anything… sorry. Are we still all in? These threads only seem to involve a few of the original fifteen. Has anyone been in touch with Shay recently? He started this and seems to have vanished.

Sion, I’ll try to send some photos on Wednesday when I can beat my new scanner into submission. We bought a new kettle recently – it has a three-page booklet on how to operate it. This scanner, which will do everything except write a synopsis, has a squillion buttons on the front and the instructions say ‘insert paper face-down and press one of the buttons’… bastard! But I can beat this thing… big problem is finding enough piccies.

    Hi everyone,

Dee you make me sound like Lord Lucan! I've been absent due to a sudden putbreak of discipline. I've got my screenplay finished and been made redundant, all since Christmas.

I'm still very much in and will help out when I can, but I suspect Sion and Derek's are safe hands to be in.

I'll be back soon (although it sounds as though only Dee is missing me!)

    Shay

    <Added>

Hey, 'putbreak'. I made a new word!

Shay... you're back! Help! My hands are not safe...

Take a look at the Anthony Rowe quote earlier in the thread. It seems good and they are recommended by both Nell and Richard here.

Welcome back mate! Sorry to hear about the redundancy.

    Derek.

I'm still in, though I've spent the original £150 I'd saved! LOL (But that's okay, because I'm about to start a new bout of 'temporary' work to fund my upcoming travels, and can put aside funds for the anthology together with the travel money.)

Hey, Shay! Great to see you back. Didn’t mean to make you sound like LL!

Sorry about the redundancy – but well done for finishing your screenplay. That must feel good.

    Hi Derek, Anj, Dee,

Thanks for your nice 'welcome back' comments and redundancy condolences. It came out of the blue, but it's been a real blessing. I got the screenplay finished and I'm seeing a corporate lawyer tomorrow. Start a new job on March 29th, so will be writing every day until then!

I'll have a look at the AR stuff, let's just go for it! Who wants the money?!

    Is this dead?

  • Re: Flash Fiction collection - new thread
by DerekH at 16:47 on 10 April 2005
Not sure if it's dead, Dee... I think I saw it twitch just then...

It just doesn't seem to be going anywhere eh? If this is going to be revived, it needs someone to really take charge, and spend time organising. I tried to organise something... but it was going slow, and it was hard to keep everyone's interest or get the go ahead from everyone on printing etc... and now I'm just too swamped with work... I barely get a minute to write...

Hopefully someone can save it. I'm really sorry, but I don't think that person is me. I would love to see it happen though... and will help in any way I can.

    Derek.

I've made my post 'An Introduction To The Flashing' visible to write words members again.

At the time there were 14 of us 'signed up', but a few are less active on the site now. We need to see who is still on board first because I think 14 is about the right number still. If there are any drop-outs then we can set about replacing them, but it seems as though we were ready to go. I think we were still looking at £150ish each.

    I'm definitely still in.
