There's a been a positive flurry of good news recently on the publishing/deals front among WWers- so we want to help celebrate them by putting them on the homepage blog. We can't put hem all on, obvioualy, but we'll fairly randomly pick some- so remember to tell us about them here!

So does that mean book deals and major publishers only - online and story successes no longer required?

To my mind, online publication success is just as significant as anything else - that goes for short stories too!

There are a lot of people wanting to know where they can get their short stories published, so I think it would be great to include all publishing successes - flash, shorts, novels, articles, etc, - in the list.

Unfortunately I have no publishing successes to speak of, but the half a dozen members of the weekly CW course I go to did like the short story I read out last night - only 3 of them walked out half way through to catch a bus. So just thought I'd share.

- that's the sort of criterion i use to judge my success/failure! In the writing group i've recently joined, only one of the other 4 people there said she was leaving the group, and possibly the district writing circle it's part of, after hearing the opening to my novel.

I'm not used to reading aloud and by page 3 was starting to hyperventilate. Another couple of paragraphs and I'd have passed out.

Now, very confused indeed.

Perhaps all successes could be in the same place and the powers that be can pick some random ones - online, comps, self-published, mainstream published - to give a nice selection of the kind of place WW is. I think it would be a shame if it started to feel two-tier or that some kinds of things are valued more than others, myself.

I think a 'heroic failure' page would be quite good fun, too. Seriously. Although possibly I'm in a minority of one here!!

I really don't think it need or should be. Let's not let it be.

I think people are obsessing over the word 'significant'. As I read it, Anna's point is that all publishing success is significant and should be celebrated as such. Rather that some publishing success is more significant than others.

However, if anyone wants to start an heroic failure thread I have a few contributions.
