I've just updated the site to introduce a new layout of the top tabs and some exciting new features.

I've removed the old 'genre' buttons, as no one really used them, and have re-ordered all the buttons in a more useful way.

Secondly, we're introducing the 'Showcase'. This is a great new facility which allows members to create their own mini-website with the address www.writewords.org.uk/myname/ (where available) - this is available to full members only.

Creating a showcase site can be done from your "my writewords" page and is all done automatically and instantly. You can add and remove buttons, change text and even upload an image. You can see an example that Anna has kindly set up already here: http://www.writewords.org.uk/anna_reynolds/

The great advantage of this is for writers who can't afford a website, or don't have the technical knowledge to create one, it's all now possible as part of your writewords membership. You can point interested parties directly to your new address, and apart from a small line at the bottom, there's nothing to tell them it isn't an entirely independent website.

We're also making these sites visible on the main site via the new 'Showcase' button.

Feedback on this new feature would be very welcome.

Finally, several sections of the site have had a small makeover - interviews, reviews, news and in particular, the events calendar, which we think should now be much more user friendly than before.

Today should be a WriteWords holiday. The 28th of September. I wonder what would be a good name for it?

I had a bit of a shock when I realised that, out of the blue, things had changed!! At first I thought it was the Pernod, then I knew that WW is surging ahead. I had better suss out the 'Showcase' now. Scary! Wonderful!

Top stuff, although it looks like you've made some changes to the site security, as I've been logged off while trying to sort out my showcase several times now, and I've lost all motivation to re-type all of the vacuous toss I was attempting to populate it with.

IB - you're right there was a bug in that respect. I think it's OK now - hopefully you can be as vacuous as you like now.
