Prairie Dog 13 is a new, print, literary journal.
Prairiedog 13 needs literary fiction. We don’t try to define literary, other than to say that it generally doesn’t include genre stuff. Notice the “generally.” We might be interested in genre work if it is cross genre, or does something new, something we haven’t seen before. We have a particular love of the experimental, the surreal, the absurd, and the weird. We like dark. We really want to stress that: DARK. If your story has happy little bunnies in it we aren’t likely to use it. If those happy little bunnies are devoured by Anthony Michael Hall we might be interested.
We prefer short stories under 4000 words. We also need poetry and the odd essay here and there. We pay $5 per story and $2 per poem. Contributor copies are a given.
We accept submissions all year. Sim subs are fine as long as you let us know. We will also consider reprints. Just tell us when and where it first appeared.
