Hi Shay, I'm currently going through my own work, to try my best to polish up as much as possible, before Dee and Ben have to rake through all my crap, lazy errors (which would be really unfair). I'm on the case, and I’m just finishing editing the last one of my current bunch, I just hope I've made them better rather than worse... I've started going through Dee and Ben's too, and will continue until we are all happy.

We also need to keep up the momentum on the cover stuff. I'm taking it that the cover image is staying as is (polished up of course), but I’m guessing someone (probably you) will have to make an executive decision on the wording sooner or later. I want to do the finished cover sooner rather than later – A: because I haven’t done it before and might end up having to edit…(or start again..yikes!) B: Because I have some time to do it at the moment, but if I land a busy contract I’ll be a bit more stretched. We will also need to put words on the back and spine, but they can be add later without much bother (still needs thinking about thoigh).

    Derek.

We've had a quiet couple of days on the forums. Is everyone happy with where we are up to? Is everyone happy with the standard of their pieces? Ready to go the next step?

Hi Shay, when it comes to being happy with the standard of my stuff...I'll never say yes...I just need my arse kicking. I'm still reading through, but I feel I'm very close to having them ready.

I could do with a little bit more feedback on One Shoe . Partly becuase I don't know if everyone will know what I'm talking about with the characterisation/exposition...but also because very few people commented and that makes me wonder if the story is book worthy.

I know...it's all Me me me me me...somebody shoot me.

    Derek.

Derek, I've got 'One Shoe' printed out here, and will give feedback in a bit.

    Also, of my six;

    A Smile
    Blood
    Falling
    One-Nil
    My Right Foot
    So What Then?

I'm reworking 'My Right Foot' a little, and will upload a more polished version in the next few days.

    Hi Everyone!

I'm going to be away from my computer until late tonight, but keep the thread going.

Just to let you know, I ww mailed all 13 of you yesterday and 12 of you have replied already. We have 78 pieces (some have said that they have the odd one still to polish). That's just 6 short of everyone having 6. I was hoping for one more contributor, but it's getting late for someone with the required pieces to come forward. So we may just go with 14 writers, 84 pieces.

We now have 80 pieces from 14 contributors. 12 writers have the maximum 6, 1 has 5 and 1 has 3.

Can everyone please mail me or post here their titles (sorry to ask again) and label them with the genre you feel they most closely fit (humour, suspense, etc).

Also state if the ending is happy/positive, sad/negative, open or twist. This will allow a convenient reference without trawling through when we come to blend the pieces in a balanced way.

    Cheers,
    Shay

Crikey, I’m impressed. 80 stories! Can you do the maths, Shay, and work out the costs each if there’s only 14 of us… so I can save up…

    Mine are:

Fox – crime - twist end
Ladder - humour – silly end
    Risen – ? - positive end
    Kissing Shadows - ? – sad end
Crater – humour – twist end
The Unforeseen Curve – humour – serve-the-bugger-right end

Really not sure how to categorise Risen and Kissing Shadows… anyone got any suggestions?

    Dee,

'Serve the bugger right end'? That's a bit harsh. What happened to Thoughtform? The old woman's perogative to change her mind, eh?

    Shay

Sorry, didn't mean you're an old woman!

Risen and Kissing Shadows are 'flash prose'. Yep, new genre name, just thought of it.

    Ooooooh!

    Er… sorry boss! You’re right… I’m having an old-woman moment

    OK…

Thoughtform – horror? – dangling end?

Sorry Shay, at this time on a Saturday night, that’s the best I can do.

    xx

just seen your added add... flash prose... brilliant!

    Hang on Dee!

Which one's in, Curve or Thoughtform? You're confusing me now!

No problem, Dee. Would it be OK by everyone if I listed everyone's pieces? Is it too early to open up a positioning debate?

    Sounds good to me.

I was thinking about this the other day. I think, as you've done all the work, you should have the honour of the opening story...
