It's looking like we'll need more time (If we are still aiming for the 30th Sept)- to wait for extra people to get on board - and to get enough pieces of our own done.

I still only have four pieces done (and still in need of some polish).

I personally think we should work in threesomes to crit/edit each others work. It will be a bit more work than pairs, but I think we would all benefit much more from it...I know I'd be much happier with that arrangement anyway.

Since I'm quite new, I don't know enough about all of you to suggest who would team up...but I think we should start as soon as poss.

    Hi Derek,

Caught your reply just as I was leaving for work. You're right about both things. Sept 30th is optimistic and we need to start teaming up.

    How about;

    Derek, Dee, Ben

    Sam, Mac, Inni

    Shay, Elspeth, Ani

    Sion, Crazylady,

Why not contact your 'buddies', point out my suggestion and see if there happy with it?

Dee, Ben, If you'll have me, I'd be happy to team up with you.

Until we team up BTW...I'm still hoping for more comments from anyone who has time on - One shoe

I'm feeling a bit unsure about it as a piece of flash. Be good to know what others think.

    Derek.

Hello my edit buddies, Shay and Elspeth -- I'll go into your portfolio and pull up your chosen pieces over the next few days. Oh, yes,, I am quite happy about grouping up with you all. Hope I'm okay with you, too!)

    <Added>

I have five selected, but I would like to write one more. Possibly the 'rock' flash due tonight, although I am not sure about it yet....

I think I need a word document with all our selected pieces listed on it.

I'm happy to read yours Derek, and Dee's too - I still need to draw up a final list of 6 for myself, I have enough pieces, it's picking the ones I like best that's the problem.

So far I think I've settled on these four:

    One-Nil
    Falling
    A Smile
    My Right Foot

Probably 'Blood' too, but I've entered that in a flash contest with results out October 1st, so I'll wait till after then before I confirm it.

Then another one from these, with 'Never Satisfied' being current leader, but I'm trying to rework them all before I make my mind up. It's really tough!

    A Thinking Accident
    Never Satisfied
    He Hit Me
    The Unwoken

Nice one Ben, I'll start looking through yours very soon.

I've sent you a WW mail.

Groups look fine to me - good idea. Inni & Mac I'll look out for the pieces you want included. I couldn't find them anywhere yet - did I miss them, or are you still deciding (no problems - just want to make sure I haven’t missed it)?

On a different note, would anyone be interested in meeting up? Perhaps when we all know (or are pretty sure) what pieces we want included we could arrange something. The logistics might get a little complicated, but it would be nice to put names to faces.

Yes, I’m happy with the team – Hi Ben and Derek – and I do think it’s a good idea to extend the deadline.

Shay, I know you’re keen to get this moving but if we force it too quickly it might just unravel. Better to make sure we have enough contributors and get the stories polished.

Sam, I love the idea of meeting up, although it’s impossible for me to be away from home overnight for the foreseeable future (I have to give my dog insulin injections twice a day) … but that’s not a problem is it? Everyone else can come to Yorkshire.

The greatest drawback for me is lack of time. Ben and Derek, I will read and comment on as much of your work as I can but I am committed to finishing The Winter House by Christmas and beginning to panic already! So my input may be sporadic.

Hmmm Yorkshire, that's near Kent isn't it?

Hey, I've never been to Yorkshire, so that sounds like an excuse to travel....

Just give me enough lead time to get the funds together, that's all I ask.

If we all got together, we could have slam writing sessions. Wouldn't that be fun?

    Dee,

I know what you're saying, I'm just anxious not to lose momentum.

Meeting up is a good idea. We're never going to get everyone together (Elspeth's in France, Sion's in Singapore and if Silverelli comes in he's in the US), but it would be good if a few of us could get together one day and sort the artwork. I still fancy lining up in mac and trilby. I know, perhaps I need help.

Derek, I’m not entirely sure because I gave Shay free rein to pick out what he liked, but it think he’s picked out:

    Fox,
    Ladder,
    Risen,
    Kissing Shadows
    Crater
    The Unforeseen Curve.

The last two especially I haven’t looked at for ages so they need a good edit. Any help will be much appreciated.
