  • Featured Writer of the week selected weekly on a week by week basis- Proposal

There are now many fine writers on the site and it is a job keeping up with their work I know that one can visit the archive and plough through a selected persons work but I thought perhaps it would be a good feature to have within each genre a

    Selected Writer of the week.

I suggest the writers are selected at random and all of their posted work available for a week ( this would mean 1 poet, 1 fiction writer etc not one from each group.) This would give members especialy the newer members the opportunity to look at some of the older work of each contributor without the trawl through and I think would add a nice feature.

I have no idea how diffcult a task I have just set David Bruce but beingthe genius we all know he is I am sure he would cope with ease ( yes I know you hate the smilies david)
asnyway would be interesting to know what others think

    take care

    What a good idea, David.

I’m sure it’s possible but I don’t know how much work would be involved to administer it.

I think newer writers (not necessarily newer members) might benefit from seeing the progression of the work of the more long-term members. Someone commented recently on one of my earlier short stories, which prompted me to read it again and I was surprised to see how much my work has improved while I’ve been on WW. I’m not trying to blow my own trumpet – yes, some improvement is a result of hard work and constant practice but an awful lot is down to the fantastic encouragement and guidance I’ve had from other WW members.

    David

A good idea! I think it might be a great incentive for members who are...a bit quiet...to become a little more active. I think all of us as writers want to have our work recognised and commented upon and this could be a spark. Also a lot of previously posted stuff seems to get forgotten about and receives no comments. I have found myself reading stuff from last year but not commenting because the previous comment was months back.

    I can't do smilies.
