  • MY 15 MINUTES OF FAME ( well perhaps 50% of it)
by olebut at 07:48 on 05 August 2004
I thought I would share this with you a few weeks ago I was appproached by the local newspaper ( a member of The Daily mail group)and asked if I would be happy to be interviewed about my poetry.

As a result I spent about 90 minutes with the deputy editor. and last week complete with photograph a 3/4 page article appeared about me and featured one of my poems 'The Nails of Death '( I hate having my photo taken it steals part of your soul each time )

As a result I have been contacted by other writers keen to set up a poetry writing circle which hopefully we will achieve. I have also been sounded out about the possibility of me running a poetry writers workshop at a local craft centre and also displaying some of my poetry there.

Thus my point of posting this is not realy to laud my achievements but to highlight an area where others of you may get some worthwhile publicity and recognition.

Our local paper is very supportive of local artists of all genres which helps, however local/ regional newspapers and non commercial radio stations are always looking for human interest stories so if they don't approach you sound them out it can be worth your while.

take care and break a leg

Fantastic David, well done! It just goes to show that the important thing is to get the work out there - you never know who will see it. Fame beckons!

    Nell.

3 - 4 page article - wow! Don't forget your old friends when you're Poet Laureate, will you?

Whoops - threequarters of a page article? Damned good nevertheless. I must try to slow down...

That's brilliant, David. Well done. Just what we need to spur us all on - a bit of encouragement and knowing that it can be done.
    Excellent.

    Well done, David!

It's so encouraging when something like this happens. It makes you realise how many like-minded people there are in your area.

Does the paper have a website? Can we all see your moment of fame?

    Dee.

the words from the poem sent to me by my lady before she sadly was killed which inspired nails of death are

...................Your heart showing him the way to his true fate
    keeping him on the straight
should he not heed his calling
then he shall feel the cold winters touching
your soul shall fade and its bright colours pale
he shall through your heart drive 6 of deaths nail.................
