One member has sent me a comment that it is easy to overlook the work of the group host because it's not in the standard list of work in a group. The original intention was entirely the opposite - to give the host more prominence as a small thank you for their efforts. What do other members think? Do you overlook group hosts work or do you notice it more?

Does it not show up as a "New work has been uploaded to your group" email?

I think I notice it slightly less immediately than the rest, although I really wouldn't have said it made very much difference. I don't have the new work email notification switched on, i go straight into my groups and look there - don't know about other people.

kate - it does, we're just talking about how it appears on the group home page.

I think it does get overlooked in the busier groups. (I haven't found it a problem in the group I host, but I've noticed it in other groups.)

I've just spotted it on the chick lit grouip page, and I had missed it. So I think that might be a fair point.

I try to make sure I look specially, but yes for me (bad eyesight you know!!) it can be easy to slide over it to the main list.

One of the reasons I gave up hosting Novel 1 last year was that I found, after becoming the host, almost immediately, I received far less attention for my own work. I think it's a user interface problem. The banner has the effect of detaching the group host's work from the main list for the group and reducing the amount of attention; as you say, the opposite of what is intended. One solution is to leave the group host's work in the main list and highlight it in some way.

Yep, I think the solution may be simply to add it into the list and keep the box as well. Thanks everyone for the input.

I think it's far less obvious when they upload something new, because for everyone else their name moves to the top of the list but for the group host there's no change in position.

I do have notification enabled but still tend to just go look, and you can miss that the notification was for the group host rather than someone else.

I have wondered about this before reading this thread.

This has now been changed so the group hosts work appears in the main list as well.
