  • Where is the Chief?
by Tez at 00:26 on 18 March 2004
    Hello,

I have to say that I think this group is really good and I have seen quite a few writers groups. Notwithstanding, I have to be critical of one thing in particular.

    Where is our leader?

When I first came into this group I liked what I saw but found negotiating the system took a little time, as there are no guidelines. One has to feel ones way around. When I put the question. "Is there a Moderator?" Becky told me that there was someone 'better than a moderator'; our Web master was much, much better than that. So, I thought I will drop him a polite line to ask for a little guidance before I forked out my £35.00 or £20.00, based upon whichever membership he might recommend. I sent him a personal email.

Now I know that people are busy, I am for one, I run a consultancy, but when anyone writes to me for advice, I give it, particularly if they are about to pay for it.

I have not seen any input from out silent leader or anyone else who has authority to answer questions about the site, (I don't really expect the web master to be involving himself in all the chat). Nevertheless, I would have thought that whoever might be delegated to the task of giving help to new members, and I notice that there are new ones every day, it would have been at least courtious to answer a question from a prospective paying member, thereby also giving indirect help to other newcomers who might also be confused as to how the site works.

Perhaps there are others who might hold the same view but are afraid to speak up, I am afraid I don’t fall into that category.

If our leader has been away on holiday, business or other reasons, which have prevented him from penning a reply, then accept my unreserved apology, if not, then I should be pleased to hear from you.

    T.A.Clarke.

    Tez,

I am sorry you're having this experience, but for my part, I have had a positive experience with the site adminstration. I am sure there's been some oversight, that this posting will draw attention to it, and that in no time you will have a response.

Hope you will stay, because, as you say, this is really a great group -- the best I have seen by far!

    Hi Terry
Sorry for the delay in responding to your email. I have indeed been away for a few days. I've responded to your wwmail. Please let me know if you have any further questions.
    Regards

    Hello David,

Thank you for the information that you sent to me be e mail.

I shall be joining the group, possibly as a community member in the first instance, within the next few days. I tried today but there was a problem that the system would not accept my password. I was a little busy and could not spend a great deal of time on it. I will try later.

    Thank again.

    Kind regards
    Tez
