Can anyone recomend any good reference books such as; punctuation, dictionary, thesaurus and anything else that would aid me in starting to write. I haven't wriiten anything since I was in infant school so I need all the help I can get.

I'm currently doing a couple of creative writing courses on Udemy.

    Thanks

Eats, Shoots and Leave by Lynne Truss is very good (about punctuation).

    Hi and welcome to WW.
For general grammar, punctuation etc I would recommend:
Oxford A-Z of Grammar and Punctuation by John Seely, and the Students Guide to Writing: Spelling, Punctuation and Grammr from Palgrave- this is aimed primarily at students obv but generally really helpful, and The Elements of Style from Strunk and White.
For general creative writing inspiration, book-wise, I would totally recommend The Creative Writing Coursebook by Julia Bell and Paul Magrs- lots of brilliant exercises which I have used over the years when teaching and writing.

Writing Down the Bones by Natalie Goldberg is a really good one about inspiration for creative writing.
