is quite the best thing on TV at the moment. Pappano is a natural! I read a reviewer who said that not only did he think he understood Opera by the end of Programme 1, he also though he could speak Italian! Last night, after Programme 2, I thought I'd understood Italian nationalism. It's brilliant!
Have banged on about this on another thread, but really, I can't get enough of it. If you love Opera you'll love this; if you like some of the tunes but don't really understand much else about the genre, this will clarify all and enhance your appreciation; if you think Opera's a joke then this will change your mind forever.
