Is anyone else as excited as me at the prospect of this first of the final three David Tennant as Doctor episodes? I am taking the unprecedented step of bringing our evening meal forward by one hour so we can get it eaten and cleared away in time to sit down together. It's supposed to be a stonker!
-
OH YESS!! and it's on in a couple of hours!!

An interesting side to Dr Who.
It'll be a shame to lose Tennant but I do think he's taken the role as far as he can.
-
Waters of Mars was ace. Not sure about the new doctor though. Have you seen him? He's very young for the role, but could be interesting...

He is a fabulously talented actor - Matt Smith I mean. Easily as good as Tennant. I've seen him on stage and also on a favulous BBC2 series - "Party Animals" and I can vouch for him. The Beeb knew what they were doing when they booked him for the job. I think the Dr will be safe in his hands. Though I admit that Tennant played an absolute blinder last night.
Wasn't it also lovely to see the beautiful Lindsay Duncan with creases in her forehead and wrinkles round her mouth instead of plastince-d up like she would have been had she been an American actress of her age? I think she is amazing.

Lindsay D was fab, wasn't she? I couldn't take my eyes off her. All that gorgeous, delicate, finely lined skin.
But I don't know about the Doctor almost going over to the dark side, there, at the end. My moral universe almost imploded, for a minute!

It was very bleak, wasn't it, both as a story and also in the way that they have taken the sadness they know the audience feels when a beloved doctor is about to go and infused the whole programme with it.
I'll miss David Tennant, too. I have to confess to having improper thoughts about him on a regular basis, so it's probably just as well for my moral well-being that he is about to be replaced by a twelve-year-old for whom I have no feeling stronger than curiosity.
-
Oh I just LOVED every minute. LD was so good, I agree. But my, I'm going to miss David Tennant! Saturday, my thoughts are most improper too. I love when he does that deep frowny thing with his glasses on..[ahem, will get a grip now, I promise]

Yes, me too but only when DT plays the doctor!
-
I sky plussed it and just finished - a total blinder.
And I for one am saying nowt about improper thoughts, given my troubles with vampires and under 11s football teams.

I thought it was great - really frightening and such tense emotional impact. And what an inspiration Lindsay Duncan is - she mesmerises me. So beautiful still. Such a wonderful and dignified actress.
-
Linday Duncan is brill. Thanks for that Jem, I feel somewhat reassured.

I think there's always going to be a time when you're not happy with the changeover. I was and still am a great fan of Dr Eccleston who was my favourite Dr and hated Tennant for about three episodes. I am much more inclined to like Matt Smith and will be interested to see what he pulls out of the box.

The episode when he goes is going to be a choker all the same.
