Oh my. It knocks Wallender out of the ring. Best thing I've seen on TV for ages and ages.
-
My husband watched this but I missed a lot of them so gave up. I would like to watch it when comes on again, though. It's finished now, isn't it?
-
Just finished. I was hooked. Superb acting and best storylines of any cop drama I've ever seen.
-
But did you see the original Swedish Wallander series (on BBC4, I think)? Much better than K Branagh & Co.
-
Hi Chris,
I was referring to the original Wallender, which I thought was great (much better than the Branagh which I only watched once) I enjoyed it until Spiral came on, after which it seemed very lame. If you like good tv crime - it is outstanding.
-
I am definitely going to catch the repeats. CanI gt it on Iplayer,I wonder?
-
Don't know. I want series one for Christmas, as I didn't catch it.
-
I'll watch out for it.

Unfortunately, series 2 goes off I-player today. I caught the first two and am kicking myself for not watching it when I had the opportunity. May also get series 1 for Xmas.
-
I recently watched the 1st series on DVD and loved it. Dark and human and messy and very clever.

I'm a fan of both Spiral and Wallander (the Swedish version), but I can't say I prefer one over the other because they're so different.
Spiral's gritty, urban, messy and doesn't say much for French police interrogation techniques (which seem to rely on maximum violence).
Wallander has an almost hypnotic feel, by comparison.
They have one thing in common - top-notch acting.

I agree Andy - the acting is so subtle and credible in both series. It sucks you in.
