Anyone seen this? It's the new offering from Sam Raimi (he of Evil Dead and Spiderman fame) and I must say I found it very entertaining. Ok, so in parts it's a little formulaic, but it has quite a few genuine shocks (my friend actually screamed at one point and popcorn went everywhere), an all-pervading sinister atmosphere and more than enough 'orrible gross outs.
It kind of works like a ghost train. You know, you're scared but really it's fun. It won't change the world but it's great entertainment. I liked.

Well anything must be better than Angels and Demons - I laughed out loud at one point.

I won't be going to see A&D after the mind-crushing drivel that was the DVC movie. Yaaaaaaaaaawn. Tom Hanks is not who I want to see saving the world, thanks very much.
Drag Me to Hell sounds like the perfect tonic for you.

I love that title, it's almost iconic.
Don't think I'll do Angels and Demons. I hated the way they did those screen symbols in DVC. But then I hate split screen stuff - too bloody old for all that malarky.

SPOILER ALERT FOR A&D
For those who are not bothering with A&D, I couldn't stop myself from laughing when Ewan Macgreagor - dressed as a catholic priest - parachutes out of the helicopter, and is dragged face down across the rooftops of the Vatican by the blast wave of an enormous explosion, and survives. Meanwhile everyone, including Tom Hanks, is standing around in the square below, looking unconcerned that there's a helicopter carrying a bomb with a blast radius of 5miles, rising vertically above their heads and still only a few thousand feet up when it goes off.
It's funny, go see it.

Tell me Ewan's beautiful face wasn't damaged.

Well you'd think a crash landing like tjat would have ground his cute little button nose of, but no, just as handsome as ever - maybe a little grazing along the chin.

So looking forward to Drag me to Hell - I can watch Raimi's Evil Deads over and over, especially number 2, classic stuff.
-
Absolutely classic, yeah.

Have you ever read Bruce Campbell's, (kind of) autobiography, If Chins Could Kill - Confessions of a B Movie Actor? it's pretty funny stuff and has some good back ground on the Evil Dead movies.
I caught his recent movie - My Name is Bruce, and was really disappointed, it was so bad it was...well bad. Roll on Evil Dead 4 I say!

I really want to see Drag me to Hell - trouble is we have no cinema in Windsor so may have to wait until on DVD.
