Has anyone read anything by this US author? I just finished The Day I First Believed, which is an absolute beast of a book (700 odd pages)but gripping enough to be read in just a week. It centres around a college lecturer and his wife, who gets caught up in the Colombine High School massacre and suffers from PTSD afterwards. There are lots of layers to the story, including a historical thread, and it's very cleverly done. I was put onto this one by my sister, who is a huge fan of his. Just wondered if anyone else had come across him?
Ooh yes! Just read She's Come Undone, charity shop find cos of the title, and it really did grip me, and I was convinced it must have been written by a woman, and was really genuinely impressed it was by a bloke. Very strange book and really sometimes I had to take a deep breath and go for it, rather than being desperate to read it, but definitely has stayed with me. I'll take a look at the new one, thanks for reminding me about this author.
I was in Waterstones this afternoon and the paperback of the one I've just read is out. And I swear it is about a quarter of the size....I feel I really must say this: WTF?
It's Hour I First Believed, by the way.

Anna, he seems to be huge in the US but relatively unknown here...
YES! She's come undoneIt was brilliant - and another I can't recall the title just now - will go and look at the shelves later. He's a fabulous writer.
Hmm.....I think I read another WL a bit too soon after the last one. I've just finished I Know This Much is True, which was an absolute beast of almost 900 pages and had quite a lot of similarities to THIFB. Too many, in fact.
He's very talented though. This one rather bravely had an unlikeable MC, which I don't dislike on principle, but is a problem when you're with the bugger for such a long time!
