Hi
Has anyone seen this? I did and didn't like it so much. I found it gratingly sentimental and the premise, when it finally comes out, struck me as absurdly grotesque.

I haven't seen any good reviews for it so I'm planning to give it a miss.
-
Waxy, why do you go and see these rubbish films? Now I know this is very judgemental of me, but didn't you know it would be crap before you went?
-
Ah, well, you see now, I didn't 'go' to see it. A mate had it on dvd and I just happened to be there lol.

Oh, fair enough! Have you seen "Milk" Waxy? You definitely should.
-
I've seen that advertised and looks interesting, yeah. I'm mean, I'm no activist or anything, but could be worth a look?

Sean Penn's portrayal of Harvey Milk is just amazing. If he doesn't get the Oscar there ain't no justice. It's definitely worth going to see just to remind you of horrendous times not that long ago, actually - the film was set in 1978 - and the indomitable spirit of this man and people like him fighting injustice.
-
Sounds good. I'll give it a whirl. Thanks for the recco.

What is the seven pounds? Is it a baby - or a brain, or the weight of the soul leaving the body? Please tell... I don't think I'll go and see the film.
-
Yes, tell, tell. That's the only thing I'm interested in knowing as I won't see it either.
-
I don't want to spoil it for anyone else though so I'll WW mail you both!

I saw the trailer for this several times and it didn't appeal at all. I sometimes think actors like Will Smith are badly served by their agents or whoever advises them on the parts they take.
Having said that, I think you do sometimes have to take a chance with films, as I might have done with this if there hadn't been so many good ones on release at the same time. I also think you can learn a lot from even a bad film. Also, you can't always tell from a trailer or reviews. (See the new topic I'm about to post on 'Doubt'.
