Matt Smith. I saw him in "This Face" on stage in the summer. I adored him in "Party Animals". I didn't see "The Fog in the Smoke" or "The Smoke in the Fpg" or whatever. This young man can act. He will make a great Doctor.

Never seen him before last night but I liked him instantly. He has exactly the right kind of quirky look. Can't wait!!
I got RTD's book about the writing process for Xmas and it's brilliant. I'm completely gripped. It's a series of emails with a Radio Times journo about how we works and it's a real warts and all look at the business of putting the show together. Reading all about how the Catherine Tate news slipped out, and how mad they were, makes you realise just what an achievement it was to keep this so quiet.

Caroline, see if you can get the DVD of "Party Animals". It was a quirky little BBC2 series that was about young researchers in Parliament. Andrea Riseborough was in it - and she has gone on to greater things too. In fact everyone in that series has really taken off. (If you watch Lead Balloon, you'll see Jack Dee's screen wife was in that too as the MP who seriously lost the plot.)
-
I meant to thank you, actually, Jem, because you and Myrtle enthusing about Summer Heights High prompted me to record the series. Am very glad I did!
-
Didn't you just love Jonah's story?
<Added>So now get Party Animals!
-
Yes, think I will!
I think Mr G is possibly my favourite though. What a grotesque and hilarious creation he is...
-
Yes, he is, isn't he? Pure genius. I love it when he threatens police action if someone in the staff room should so much as borrow his mug.
And the lyrics to the songs are sheer genius!
-
The thing that amazes me is the physicality of the actor who plays them all (can;t remember his name!).
It's like his body completely changes with each one. Genius, as you say.
-
Agree. Difficult to play a camp man and a teenage girl without mixing them up but both are individual and that's as much to do with what he does with his face and body as the manner in which he speaks and their different way of verbally expressing themselves. I mean, it's like, totally random.
-
Hee hee! He has that teenage girl drawl thing to a tee too.
-
Yeah, like, random, knowatimean?
