Has anyone been listening to this on Radio $ at 9.45? It's finished now, I guess, but you can probably get it on Listen Again or, better still, read it. You may remember Nella Last's Diary being televised, with Victoria Wood playing Nella and also dramatising it. I found Nella an immensely complex, intelligent woman and this second collection of her diaries we find her struggling to come to terms with post-War Britain. A brilliant source for historians, I'd think, especially as she is such an individual voice and not remotely like the usual Elstree version of women on the home front, putting on a brave smile. She rants and raves - against Christianity, the bad mannered Poles as opposed to the nice young German POW's, the Government. I really loved it.
