I missed this when it was released, but an Irish friend lent us this lovely film on DVD. It's a no-budget romance set in Dublin where a street busker/vaccuum cleaner fixer meets a Czech flower seller / cleaner and the two of them get together to compose songs and music about their lost loves.
The hero was in The Commitments as the red-haired guitarist. That's one of my favourite films.

Sheila,
I thought this was a delightful film - the theme tune won an Oscar, I believe. Can he possibly be the same man from the Commitments? Seems so young still!
It really is gorgeous, isn't it?
-
Yes. In The Commitments he was called Jaffa.

Sheila, I reviewed this with 'Elizabeth' earlier this year. Here's the link.

Thanks, I enjoyed the informative review, Jem.
The owner of the DVD values it so highly I'll have to send it back asap. When my partner's pal lent it to him at the end of a get-together on Saturday, his wife was scowling. She's from Dublin but they live in Surrey so she's a kind of exile, I suppose. I hope it doesn't get lost in the mail.

I must watch this - heard the music recently - really beautiful.

I had to download that lovely song after watching the film!

Yes, it was lovely, wasn't it. Apparently those two are now a real life couple. All together now - Aaaah!
