Hello all,
I have just rejoined WriteWords after an absence from writing - who knew returning to university, changing careers and having two children in the space of three years could take up so much time?1
I am a primary school teacher and former journalist who now has a slightly obsessed glint in his eye when talking about my desire to become a published children's author. Previously I had contributed short stories in different genres but am now dedicated to creating what I hope are silly, sweet and memorable picture books. If they aren't, then I'm looking forward to hearing what you all have to say to help me try to make that happen.
Hopefully I can return the favour to many of you by providing useful feedback, encouragement or simply saying the right thing at the right time that reminds someone we aren't alone in our quest to fill those evil blank pages with something wonderful!
Thank you to anyone who reads this and I look forward to being an active WriteWords member once more!

Hi there, and welcome back to WW. It's been rather quiet lately, but I think the Children's and YA group is one of the busier ones. Feel free to join us in Intensive Critique too, if you fancy it, or Fast First Draft where we have an ongoing thread offering support to each other through all our writing goals. There's also the Short Story Writers Group, Women's Fiction, the Poetry Writers Group and Flash Fiction, if you fancy a challenge.
Hope you enjoy your time here!
All the best,
Jenny

Welcome back :)

Hi there, nice to see you (don't want to lapse into Bruce Forsyth, so I'll stop there). Have you joined the Children's and YA group? That's the place to upload work and to give and receive feedback.
If you get a 'group full' messsage, let me know and I'll sort it out because half the people on there are inactive.

Hi Jennifer1976, Bazz and Freebird.
Thank-you very much for your welcome. I will place my request to join Children's and YA Group now, Freebird, and let you know if I get any messages back. I'll spend a bit of time reading and posting on other's work before posting the first of my own.
Jennifer, I think Flash Fiction would be a good idea too to give me regular challenges. I'll probably look into Intensive Critique too in the very near future.
Thanks again.

Flash fiction's always happy to have new members, the weekly challenges are great for motivating people and generating ideas...

Hi and welcome from me too. Can thoroughly recommend Flash Fiction for inspiration. Hope you find what you're looking for on this site.
