  • Use of the article with adjectives
by JTL at 13:43 on 27 February 2012
    Hi
A client has requested that we use any brand or product names as adjectives from now in all text and follow an adjective/noun rule.

Previously we would write: 'STONEGUARD is a durable range of etc'

Now we need to write ' The STONEGUARD range is etc.' or 'A STONEGARD ST1 product is etc'

The question is – is it ok to use the name without using either 'the' or 'a' in front of the name to keep this adjective/noun rule? As in:
    'STONEGUARD products are used etc'

Yes, definitely. The Stoneguard Range is a particular range of Stoneguard products, which is why your singling it out from others in the product range with the use of the article.

"Stoneguard Products" doesn't need an article because your talking about the products in general, not in particular as in the example higher.
