Hi everyone,

My name in Mike, and I joined WW last night. After 10 years of messing around with statistics, I have finally found the courage to write my first novel. I'm on the 2nd re-write now and will hopefully have it ready by Christmas.

I'm interested mainly in real life stories and fantasy, along the lines of Mark Haddon, Terry Pratchett, Paulo Coelho. My current novel is about OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder), something very close to my heart.

I'm hoping that I will learn from the members on WW, so I look forward very much to meeting you all.

Thanks, it's taken a while, but got there in the end! I think I had the idea about 11 years ago, just took me a while to work out what to do with the idea.

What kind of writing are you interested in?

I write short stories and chick lit, Mike - there is a diverse range of writers on here!

Have you thought about joining one of the groups? (maybe you have already) - it is great to upload work and get feedback, i've learnt a lot here.

Thanks, I was thinking about uploading the first ch of the novel I have just written. I would really appreciate some feedback. It's primarily aimed at late teen/adult, and the narrator is an 11 year-old with some severe problems.

Don't be scared, MIke - although we all are at the beginning. I remember the first time i ever uploaded a chapter, 6 years ago and have learnt so much since from other people giving me their opinion.

Everyone on WW is very helpful and constructive.

Not upload too massive a chunk to start - when i belonged to a novel groups i uploaded chunks of about 2500 words - but if you introduce yourself in whichever group you choose (children's?) i'm sure everyone will point you in the right direction.

You won't regret it! And don't be afraid to comment on other people's work either - it is a tit for tat think, and even though at first you may feel unqualified to comment (i did), as you will find, all sorts of comments are so useful to writers and everyone appreciates it.

I see you've joined the Childrens Group, that is a good group to upload your opening pages - as Petal says, 2500 words is a good number. They'll be able to tell you if a novel with such a young narrator works as Adult or Childrens fiction.
