I've just finished a postgrad degree in Children's book illustration where I had lots of fun creating my own picture books and met some fantastic people. The course also re-ignited the creative writing flame that came pretty close to being permanently extinguished by the numerous finance/ audit reports I was obliged to write in my 'previous life' for years.
My writing output so far consists of: 2 picture books (self-published on blurb.com) , 1 picture book-in-progress, numerous short stories and a 30,000 word children's novel. Ideas abound all the time but I really need to find the right way to express them. I think I'm guilty of underwriting (the novel) and have no idea how to edit my stories (though I'm pretty sure they need it!).
So I'm looking forward to being part of a writing community that I can be inspired by and learn from, and maybe expanding my repertoire outside of the children's genre too.
