Hi there!

I joined for a month's trial back in April-ish and was on the verge of becoming a full member when life (i.e. redundancy) sort of got in the way and even 35 quid was something I had to think twice about spending.

So anyway, now I'm finally here I'd like to introduce myself and extend a big, warm Hullo to you all. I'm Richard Williams, I live in Cardiff and I'm currently trimming the fat off my whopping 170,000 word first novel. I'm very much looking forward to picking your brains about writy stuff and getting some feedback on the few nov-chunks that I've edited so far.

170K novel is great going. For tips on editing I found Sol Stein's book 'Solutions For Novelists a great help, and now's also a good time to write the old synopsis, as that'll also show up places in the plot that need tightening, &/or superfluous characters.

I'm looking forward to badgering you with questions over the coming weeks. And thanks for the tips Naomi, I was going to leave the synopsis till I'd more or less finished, but now you mention it it makes sense to do it at this stage.

I'm in two minds whether to upload anything at the moment. I'm about 10 chapters into the 2nd draft and still deciding what I'm going to keep and what I'm going to chuck. If I do upload, do I need to be in a group for that? If so, which would be the best one?
