  • Upload work to multiple groups?
by Katie Mayes at 20:46 on 09 January 2010
    Hi all

Just wondered if it's possible to upload work to multiple groups?

I've uploaded to the Short Story group but wouldn't mind some feedback from the womens fiction and beginners group also. What's the best way of going about this?

Shoud I post a note in the other groups to say I've uploaded (I've selected visible to all WW members) and wouldn't mind their comments or is this not a good thing?

Also, what is the general consensus on an upload of work that has been re-drafted after initial member comments? Do members like (or mind) seeing re-drafts of an initial piece or it is best not to?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Katie,
Naomi will know more, but I THINK you can belong to two groups if you are a member (ie not on trial membership), in which case you can upload to both. In Women's Fiction, we do sometimes re-upload after making changes - I don't think anyone minds. If they do, they don't have to crit! It's always helpful if you say so, and also if you say what you'd like us to look out for in the work - eg does this character come across as spirited enough/funny enough or whatever.

You can only upload a piece of work to one group at a time, and there is a 2 day waiting period between uploads, so if you want to upload it in another group you'll need to make a copy, wait 2 days, and then upload it.

Alternatively, you can post a link to the work you've posted in one of the groups, in the topic section of each group and ask for feedback. You can also post a link in the Introduce Your Work forum asking for feedback.

The Site works best with reciprocal feedback, so you are likely to get more critiques if you have posted feedback on work uploaded by your fellow Group members in the Groups where you are posting work. (sorry for the tongue twister. )

As for posting re-drafts, yes, you can - although not everyone will crit a redraft (if they feel they'll just be repeating themselves), so don't be surprised if you get fewer crits.
