I imagine I will have some trouble navigating around the site. The fact that I live in an area where I cannot get broadband and I am using a dial up connection doesn't help. It can be extremely slow and regularly logs me out. But I hope to make lots of new friends and when I am familiar with WW, I may even be able to help other newcomers.

I started a creative writing course last year and although I love writing I sometimes get stuck, writers block I suppose and life gets in the way. It's lovely to have other writers to compare notes with. I know I am not alone.

Oooh it can be maddening to get logged out.
What sort of thing are you writing? We have several very active writing groups - they tend to be divided up on genre such as Flash Fiction, Short Story, Childrens, Womans Fiction, etc, but also general ones such as Beginners, etc, and specialist ones for those preparing to submit to agents such as Synopsis & Outline group.
You can find the list by clicking on the orangey 'Groups' tab near the top of the page.
As a Trial Member you can join one group and upload one piece of work.

You really should read Rainy Days & Tuesdays. I will certainly be watching out for more Claire Allan books. She is very funny and very light reading. She writes the kind of book I would love to be able to write.
