  • How do I submit some writing for review?
by Candiflare at 00:01 on 15 November 2009
    Hi Guys,

I'm not new here, but I have decided to really try and work on my writing now and wondered if you could let me know how I can submit some work for people to tell me what they think of it?

    It's non-fiction, features-writing.

Any tips of help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Candiflare, good to see you're taking thep lunge

You'll find the Groups listed on one of the orange tabs above.
    And, for convenience, here: http://www.writewords.org.uk/groups/

Click on any of the groups and oyu'll see 'Click here to join this group' on the Group Homepage. There will be a pending period of a few hours while Admin. adds your name to the Group.there is a Journalism group, but it's not very active. For feedback it's best to join an active group. Most are Fiction and Poetry, but you might consider uploading in Beginners or even Short Story.
As a Full Member oyu can join more than one group, and can move around groups until you find one you're comfortable in.
Alternatively oyu could just upload in the Archive, but work tends to be overlooked there.

To upload a piece of work click on your 'My WriteWords', top right hand corner of the page, and half way down the pae you'll see a 'click here to upload new work', and follow the steps. If you've joined any of the groups you'll see a group (or list of groups) at the bottom of the page in Step 2 to choose to upload your work into. If you don't choose one, or if oyu haven't joined any groups (or if you're still in the pending period) then the work will go into the Archive.
You will see an 'Owner Edit' facility on any uploaded piece of work which oyu can click on and choose to upload into a different group, if you change oyur mind at a later date.
There is a 2 day waiting period between uploads, and old work will automatically move into your personal archive when you upload a new piece.

If you get stuck just give us a shout.

PS. Once you upload a piece of work it's worth putting a link to it in the Introduce Your Work forum so people can find it.

Naomi, thanks for this. I've joined the beginner's group but just wondered if you can tell me where I can see other people's work in the beginner's group? Sorry for so many questions.

Could you also tell me whether my work will be available to the public, on a google search for example, if I upload it?

    Hi Candifare

As a group member you should be able to see work posted by other members of "Beginners". If you can't just double check that you are "logged-in". Sometimes you can time-out and think that you're still logged into the site, but you're not.

If you've double checked and you still can't access other member's work, then the problem is of a more complex nature and you're have to get help from a site expert.

    Hope this helps.

No, not if you don't want it to be. When you upload you'll have the choice of selecting it to be Viewed by Everyone (including general public); WW Members Only; Group Members Only (ie, if you're uploading it into the Group you've joined, as opposed to no Group in which case it'll go into the Archive); and, last but not least, Yourself Only. - The last is useful if you just want to back up a copy of your work.
