Hello, everyone.
I'm just taking a moment to introduce myself to the community. Having recently retired after many years in business, I'm probably a lot older than the large majority of you and a bit of a fogey as a result. What I do have in common with you younger folk, though, is a passion for writing, and I'm now able to devote much more of my time to that passion.
In the last few months, I've been very fortunate to find a publisher,
Black Leaf Publishing, who really admire my work and who have recently published my book, 'The Island of Whispers'. I wrote half of it twenty years ago and the remainder just last year. It's been called 'Watership Down' with a difference. The difference is that there are no cuddly rabbits. Just rats. They live on the little island that's tucked under the Forth Railway Bridge. They've been there for centuries. Then a group of them attempts to flee to the mainland. They just happen to go in the middle of the bridge's centenary celebrations . . . Anyway, if you're interested, you'll find details of the book in the WriteWords Book Shop.
Black Leaf Publishing will also shortly be publishing my next book, 'The Olive Branch'. It's really my
first novel, since I wrote it more than thirty years ago!
Finally, I have a growing collection of short stories, a few of which are also more than thirty years old. I'll be testing out some of the stories among other short story writers on the site. Meantime, all of my stories can be viewed on my own website, which is called
the frustrated writer for obvious reasons.
I look forward to participating in the community.
Brendan
