Hi,
I tried to make a post in the main TV forum but didn't realise that wouldn't be able to access it.
I have a fairly basic query regarding an agent for a TV sitcom script.
Is there a particular agency that deals with television comedy? Or, better yet, is there a particular agency that deals with specifically more experimental TV sitcoms in the ilk of those like Peep Show, Pulling, The Thick of It,. Nathan Barley etc etc etc.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated as I live in Ireland and have a great deal of difficulty getting decent information on the British TV industry.

I know very little about this, but two things I do know:
Scripts for individual comic sketches to comedy sketch shows can be submitted directly to the show's production company. I know several writers who have picked up work this way, including ex students at Middlesex who had few credits to their names at the time.
My husband's agent handles some fairly mainstream sitcom writers. Can email you her details if you like.

Yup, as Cherys says, submit directly to the show's producers. There's also the BBC Writers Room, which should be on the BBC website.

Thanks for the response, I'll certainly take the details. However, the script I have is a pilot for a whole new series. I'd really like to try and get some attention drawn to it as I think its a pretty original concept and I believe the pilot can stand on its own.
I actually had the idea of contacting certain producers who I know are interested in this work but found myself unable to get their contact details. Any ideas how to get this information?

Sorry, I meant producers who might be interested in this sort of work...

I usually find most things on Google if you put in the right search words.

Hi Phil
Sorry to butt in on this thread, as I'm neither a newbie nor an expert. If you're a full member, you could take a look at the Directory pages, which will give you plenty of contacts for agents, production companies etc.
Failing that, I would definitely try GOOGLE - as Naomi said, most things can be found if you use the right search words.
Good hunting!
