Welcome!
I'm new to all this, but it's quite strange .. I feel like part of the furniture already!
I guess if you've been browsing, you'll know your way around better than me, but I still have a lot to learn with regards to the site, and also to writing.
I actually found the courage to join a "group", and also place my first piece of writing on the site for all to critique, and oddly, I'm really pleased. It was incredibly helpful, and it gave me far more confidence than I've every had with regards to showing people my work.
So go for it !!
Hope to chat again in future.

hi SJ
I know that it's been some time since your original posting, however, your comments struck a chord with me, so I thought I would reply just in case you pick this up.
I recently joined ww on the free trial - not really sure whether it would help me or not. However, having lurked for a few days, I decided that the only way to really test the water was to jump right in. So within a couple of days of joining I took the plunge and uploaded some of my work.
I can't remember when I was last so nervous. I was really excited to know if anyone had looked at my work. Then I was disapointed that people had looked but not commented. Then horror of horrors - someone left a comment. ARHHHH.
I can't remember when I was so brave, but at last I had the courage to open the feedback and read it. PHEW nothing to worry about. Lots of encouraging positive feedback as well as constructive ideas about how to deal with minor problems.
My experience has been very worthwhile, and I'm now considering becoming a full member. It's taken a little bit of time, however, I'm no longer just lurking in the sidelines. I've even managed to give some feedback to another writer - I wouldn't have though that possible a week ago!
I hope that your experience has also had a positive outcome, and that we both become "part of the furniture" and help other newbies that follow.

Hi Nicci!
Nice to meet a fellow WW friend.
I can't tell you how much I've enjoy being on here, and I think it was one of the best £35 I ever spent.
I joined the Beginners Group straight away as I started to lose my way a little at first, and didn't really know how to negotiate the site! Now, I do actually feel like part of the furniture, and it's not really been very long.
I've already made some fantastic, supportive, helpful, and wonderfully creative friends, and I'm completed addicted to loading work! I actually enjoy every part of receiving comments, good and bad. It's made me really think about my writing for once! I load a chapter of my story every Tuesday, so as not to overload everybody's brain with my ramblings, and we all take part in challenges that we set each other. So there is always something creative going on.
I'm thrilled to be part of this. It was a joy to start the writing process in the first place, but it just gets better and better.
You can find me in Beginners most days, if ever you fancy a chat.

Hello Nicci and SJ and welcome to WW
I hope you both enjoy the site - I do and it's helped me a lot with my writing.
You can always invite feedback from the 'introduce your work' forum and - if you like - set your work to 'writewords members' rather than 'group members only' - then anyone on WW can take a look and comment but it's not internet visible.
Best of luck!

Hi Sarah
Nice to meet you. It's a great place to chat to like minded people on here isn't it. I've enjoyed it very much. The help has been invaluable, but the best thing I have found, is the friends I've made so far.

Hi, stormy, and welcoe to WriteWords.
As a Part Member you can join one Group and upload one piece of work.
Give us a shout if you need help navigating the site - it can be confusing at first.

Hi Stormy ... how appropriate!
A very big welcome from me! I hang out in a couple of groups, Beginners Group & Women’s Fiction (I think as a Trial person, you can join 1 group), and that is very useful because you make lots of friends, receive loads of welcome input about your work, and I think most of the groups tend to set writing challenges to take part in if you fancy stretching your mind!
I've been a member since spring, and it's been really worthwhile and enjoyable. I've been posting my story chapter by chapter, and it's been absolutely brilliant receiving critique on it.
You would be very welcome in either group, but browse around the site, and if you need any help at all, feel free to ask by mail or on here.
