    Hey,

I know it’s been a while since I posted anything – wouldn’t you know, the minute I become a paid up member I run out of things to say.

Anyway, just a quick update. Draft three of my novel is going well. It’s taking far longer than I thought it would to write, but I think that’s a good thing (even if it does mean I’m likely to miss my self-impose 35th Birthday deadline). I just don’t always want to write every weekend. But when I do I generally get 3-6,000 words down, which is very cool.

Anyway, I’ve recently been pondering sequels, ever hopeful as I am that this book will get published and that the publisher will want a follow-up.

So, I was wondering, the book I am writing is part of a trilogy – but I also have other idea’s that will expand the “world” I am trying to create. What I am hoping for is a Terry Pratchett (without the comedy)-esque world where I have a number of characters whose lives I dip in and out of with different stories, and who crossover into the lives of other characters in that world.

So, for my sequel, do I concentrate on expanding my world or stick with the trilogy idea?

    What do you think?

    Hi Melsheff

I am jealous of anyone who has so many ideas! I', not sure what the answer is, but I do think it is something that is worthwhile discussing with your agent if / when you get one (if you haven't already) and is something that might depend on what kind of work you're doing. Is it fantasy? I'm not well read in that field, but there are plenty here who are, and will probably be along to give better advice soon.

    3 - 6000 words in a weekend! I'm jealous again!

Wow, so 3,000 - 6,000 words in a weekend is good huh? Cool. I honestly have no idea. I plucked the idea from the website of an author I like and have been aiming for that target ever since. Thankfully I have a very understanding partner who doesn't mind me disappearing off most of Saturday and Sunday.

Fingers crossed it all leads somewhere.

As for the idea's, while writing draft 1 and 2 I have come up with loads of them. I've got a file of 11 or 12 one paragraph notes that i hope to do something with in future.

Oh and no my story isn't fantasy, it's a pulp action adventure horror type thing.
