    Hi All

Just signed up to this incredible site. I spent sometime navigating before making the decision to join.

I have been writing for a couple of years but really quite new!! Learning all the time. I have always wanted to write and tell stories but kept putting it off. So pleased I have made the plunge.

Looking forward to reading posted work on the site and getting to know everyone. A little daunting but I'm sure I will get to know my way around the site.

Hi, Laurence, and welcome to WW.
As soon as the Bank Hols are over, the site experts will be back and will be there to answer any questions you have.
I've been a member for about 18 months and have gained a lot from it, both writing-wise and socially. Hope you find the same!

PS - You may like to join a group (or groups) for the kind of writing you're most interested in. Then you can post work, crit others' work and get lots of useful feedback.

Hi Laurence, and welcome to WW. As you've realised, there's a lot on here, and it can be difficult to find your way round, but the best way is to dive in, and if you get out of your depth, shout.

    Hi Laurence,

I am brand new to this site aswell. I hope to get to know other people just starting out. I think I am ready to start some writing, have wanted to do it for a long time, but can't quite get myself to actually begin to do something. Don't quite know where to start

Hi Terry, and welcome to WW!
Start anywhere. Literally. It doesn't have to be good. It doesn't have to be perfect. It just has to be. Once you've got something down on paper, you've got something to work with.
Oh, and you could join the Writing Beginners group too.
    Best of luck,
    Susiex

    Welcome Terry

That's good advice from Susie... don't get it right, get it written is the motto often quoted to new writers who can't get started. Just get words out of your head onto paper, or your PC, and practice giving free rein to your imagination. You will have to get it right at some point, of course, but that can come later.

Thanks for all the good advice and encouragement. I agree getting something down on paper and often will help develop a style.
