I cannot upload any work on to the website. I am told I need a wordpress.
This is not straight forward. My computer threw a hissy fit with one, downloaded another but didn't let me know where. I really hate computers. They are completely bewildering. One minute they are telling you'can't do that', next minute it's 'doh!'

Can anybody tell me how I upload work?

I don't think that's right. You can upload from any word processing package - even notepad, or copied and pasted off an email, so I'm not sure why you should be having problems.
What are you using on your PC at the moment?

Are you talking about uploading a script into the Film and TV group? Probably best just to upload it in a straight word-procesing format (eg, Word) rather than trying anything fancy.

    Hi Naomi,

I was going to put my first 10,000 words on to the website. It is typed in
Word 2007. I don't know how to get it from where it is, to where I would like it
to be. If I do that will I still have a copy on Word? I ask that because when I've moved stuff around before eg from open office to Word, there is no copy on open office.

I hope I've explained that well enough.

That's fine if you're putting it on the site as a back up copy, but that is too large to upload for feedback - 1500-2500 words is a better size.

It is typed in Word 2007. I don't know how to get it from where it is, to where I would like it to be.

If it's all in one file simply do a
    Select All
    Copy

    Then go into My WriteWords
click on Click Here To Upload New Work
Choose from the selection in Step 1.
Paste your extract into the text page in Step 2.
Fill in the other spaces on this page.
Click Submit at the bottom of the page.

You can edit anything you upload - there will be an Owner Edit button near the top of your extract, and on your My WriteWords page.

If I do that will I still have a copy on Word?

If you've Copied and Pasted, then the original will still be in your Word file. If you've Cut and Pasted, you'll lose it from the Word file if you then click save before closing the file.

I ask that because when I've moved stuff around before eg from open office to Word, there is no copy on open office.

Ummm, well no there wouldn't be if you've moved the file from Open Office to Word. It should then be in Word.

    Just to clarify:

When you upload something on WriteWords you are copying an pasting a section of text over. Not a file.

    oops typo '...copying and pasting...'
