  • Hello, and query about full membership
by Itsy Bitsy at 10:44 on 13 September 2008
Hi, I've just joined as a trial member but see that I can't access various areas of the site so I'm considering signing up for full membership. I've read what I get for that but I'm wondering if full members can tell me from their experiences the value of doing so? I'm just not sure if I'll personally get the useage to justify the cost.

I've just thought of another question - how active is the private members forum?

    Hi there,

    Welcome to WW!

I joined in February and have found it terrifically useful. Of course it all depends what you want, but for informed debate about the process of writing and the joys of the publishing industry, I've found it invaluable. The private members forum is pretty active and most of the biggest discussions and most interesting thread turn up there.

If you give an idea of what you are looking for perhaps I, or someone else, can be more specific.

Hi Itsy Bitsy and welcome to WriteWords

You have a choice of full membership or the cheaper part membership.
If you want access to, eg, the Writing Jobs and Agents Directory then it might be worth paying for Full membership. If, however, it's the writing forums and the private members and lounge forums, you're most interested in - for posting your work for feedback, and to hear all the gossip - then part membership (Community Only) may be more use to you.
You can always upgrade your membership at any time if you join on part membership and then decide you want access to all the WW facilities.
Personally, I started off on a one months free trial then, since I only wrote for fun, chose the Community only package. Now I'm at the stage of submitting my work to agents and writing competitions, etc, then I'm finding full membership is proving useful to me.

If you have any other questions feel free to ask.

If you are serious about your writing, then WW is one of the best for advice and experience.
If, however, you are just starting out and looking for somewhere to meet other new writers, then it might be worth checking out some of the other (free) writers forums first.

Thanks both, for the replies and warm welcome.

It's really the community aspect that I'm interested in, so part membership sounds like the way to go.

I think I'm going to like it here. :-)

Thanks Naomi. I'm awaiting my first publishing contract and am embarking on my first book (non-fiction), which is exciting and terrifying at the same time. Believe me, I'm going to need all the help I can get!

...and now I'm a part member for the community.

That's great news about the publishing contract, Itsy Bitsy (and about joining as a part member ). you'll have to tell us all about it.
