  • Finding agents and publishers
by Ladybird at 15:10 on 08 September 2008
    Hi
I'm new to this forum, and also live in mainland Europe, and would appreciate some advice, or a link to a site where I can find out about submitting suitable manuscripts to publishers and agents, I know there's a book out there, but it's not available in deepest rural France, I'm sure there must be a website, or if anyone can guide me to a publisher / agent that accepts work for memoirs I would be most grateful.

On a further note... my book is about moving down to France - there are some quite dramatic slants on this, it's written in diary format, but as it's also travel related would anyone recommend if I should submit to travel related agents too? Your advice for this newbie would be much appreciated.
    Kind regards

Hi Ladybird and welcome to writewords

Memoirs would be classed as non-fiction, so you need to search for agents and publishers that specialise in non-fiction - although, saying that, most large Agencies handle both fiction and non-fiction.
A good starting point is books/websites like Writers and Artists Yearbook (commonly referred to as WAAYB): http://www.writersandartists.co.uk/

You could also check out published books similar to your own and make a note of who the publisher is and see if they have thanked an agent in their acknowledgements, then google the publishers and Agents websites and check out their submissions guidelines.

    Good luck
