Has anyone any experience of these? I find I fill notebooks and scraps of paper, but typing it all onto the pc is a problem for me. I think I must have undiscovered dyslexia or something. This is probably just timewasting rather than getting on with it but I would like to explore writing by hand onto a pc of some sort, or scanning my notes in and converting them to text. Any thoughts? Thanks for any help,
Cathy
Oh and I notice I had to correct 5 spellings in this paragraph. Humph! And how do you put smilies in on here??
I saw one demonstrated recently that is tiny - the size of a bulldog clip - that clips onto the top of any clipboard, then you use the pen that comes with it and use it as a normal biro, writing on ordinary paper. This means you have a hard copy, but everything you write goes onto this little clip, which then plugs into a pc. Can't remember name or make, but it looked fun. Sorry for not being much use, just thought I'd mention that there are some clever things being developed at the mo.
Thank you for the tip about the bulldog clip style widget Colin and Dee. It sounds amazing. Might need to pursue that one. I just need software to recognize my handwriting when I scan in the stuff I've already got in my notebooks . Thanks for the welcome Caro, and for the smilie info Dee.
It's just been reviewed on The Gadget Show and is called the Dane-Elec Zpen, £77. The bit that clips on is an infra-red reader, and comes with a hi-tech pen which you write with. It copies the writing onto the screen and then converts it to digital text. The show rated it very highly.
I've got the Digimemo but not sure I'd recommend it. If you want something that will simply send your handwriting/drawing as is to your PC for storage, then it's fine. But the handwriting recognition software (which costs extra) is next to useless. My handwriting is pretty clear but the translation by the software is so erratic, you might as well just re-type what you wrote. The person who wrote that 5 star review must have Acecad as their middle name.
