If you’re new to journalism, we have a fantastic opportunity for you! On the 26th June 2007, the production company World of Wonder are holding a press conference to be used in a new television programme. It will be attended by a number of journalists from high profile newspapers and we are offering new journalists the opportunity to attend, ask questions and get the feel of how a press event like this works.
The event is being held in London and you would be required to attend between 11-1 o’clock. If you are interested in attending then please phone Siobhan Lyons on 02074283457 to get further details.

Would be great if you could be a bit more specific on here about what the launch is about, what sort of product or service it features.
I'm a journalist and have been to a number of press launches and whilst they can be good fun (free booze! free canapes! chat with other journalists!) the other aspect is the 'hard sell' stuff from PRs (not knocking this of course, you've got a job to do) - and often the pressure afterwards to place features on cod liver oil tablets, shoes that help you lose weight or whatever.
I do totally understand the 'deal' between prs and journalists at these sort of events, but those just starting out might not, so the more information you can give about what's on offer and what might be expected of the journalist in return would be much appreciated.
many thanks
Maria

James, welcome to WW.
Could you post a link to World of Wonder, to give anyone who’s interested a flavour of what this is about?
