    Hi Beadle,

I started my career at the J.Walter Thompson Agency quite a few years ago. In those days there was never a shortage of copywriters.

Has the Industry changed so much? There has always been a need to use the services of freelance operators but never in the field of copywriting. Artists, Designers, Photographers, freelance or sub-contractors but not copywriters, for these represented the prime creative output and 'originality' that marked one Agency from another.

I'm sure there is not a shortage of copywriters Len, but more of an issue of access to the best/rights ones.

Good copywriters tend to have their regular clients and I know that most of the work I get is from recommendation. But there will be instances when an organisation needs a writer – perhaps for the first time – and does not know where to look.

I think this is particularly true of the online world, where it seems to be (supposedly) more specialised and you have a lot of organisation starting or revamping websites for the first time and they need help.

This is where onlinecontentuk comes in, although I have never used them. It is also a Government job and my experience of Government is that they usually leave it to the last minute to find someone, so they are probably panicking right now!
