Dear Shooters
As you may know, Skillset is the Sector Skills Council for the Audiovisual industries and has for the past 6 years been running a very successful careers’ advice service for people working in the technical trades’ area of the industry.
However, recently their remit has widened to include performers. Freelance trained performance advisors are able to give up to date information, advice and guidance to anyone who is currently, about to be, or returning to the industry. Or indeed if you want to diversify into other sections of the industry, writing, filmamking etc they can advise on specific entry routes, accredited courses, funding etc.
Equity has secured funding up until March 2007 from the Union Learning Fund in order to establish this service and to judge its use and impact. The funding means that your session will be free of charge. (You do not need to be a member of Equity to take advantage of this service)
In order to book a session you will need to complete a form giving details about yourself, where you are career-wise and what you are looking to get out of the session. You will also need to send a copy of your CV with the completed form. An appointment will be scheduled after the information has been received – and you will then have between 1 and 1.5 hours in which to discuss how best to activate your career.
Your session is confidential and will take place in a central location arranged by the Careers Team at Skillset – no home visits!
In order to set things in motion contact Sasha Kamenetski, the Careers Service Co-ordinator at Skillset, so she can send you the forms.
Skillset, Prospect House, 80-110 New Oxford Street, London WC1A 1HB. Tel 020 7520 5756. Or contact Equity on 020 7670 0204
Best wishes
