'Manifold publishes original high-quality poetry in any traditional or innovative style, in any variant of English, and also (from time to time and without translation) in major European languages (French, German, Italian, Spanish, Latin). We also use translations of poetry from less-known languages; these should be accompanied by the original text and (where appropriate) permission from the original author.'

Our major requirement is that the poems be good of their kind. Most themes are acceptable — but poets submitting works on political, 'protest' or religious themes should make sure that their offerings have some genuine poetic quality. (Manifold is a poetry magazine, not a pulpit or soapbox!) Manifold runs a series of on-going competitions for specified themes or forms. Prizes are modest, but there are no entry fees. In addition to poetry, Manifold also publishes book, theatre and art reviews, and also the 'Roundabout' gossip column of the poetry scene. A particular feature of Manifold is the 'Corrigenda' page, which re-publishes poems which on their first appearance in print suffered misprints sufficiently grave to distort the meaning or detract from the impact.'
